Lantern Walk at Waneka Lake

  • Waneka Lake 1600 Caria Drive Lafayette, CO, 80026 United States (map)

A poetry moment at last year’s lantern walk along Coal Creek.

The darkest days of the year are here. Join us for a festive gathering to symbolically carry the light through this time.

Reviving a past Lafayette tradition, we will meet in the parking lot at the southern side of Waneka Lake and walk the 1.2-mile loop around the lake, making a few stops to listen to seasonal meditations written by Friends of Coal Creek’s Writer-in-Residence Erin Robertson and perhaps sing a seasonal song or two.

This event is fun for the whole family, so bring the crew to help us carry the light.

Please bring:

  • Warm layers for the cold, including a beanie and gloves.

  • A lantern or flashlight, not too bright.

  • A bit of writing (yours or someone else’s) inspired by the season to share, if you like.

Please RSVP. We’ve never run this at Waneka before and are not sure what to expect in terms of turnout.
