Russian Olive Removal

  • Hwy. 42 Underpass at Coal Creek Trail Louisville, CO (map)

You have probably noticed invasive Russian olive trees by the creek.

Come out to remove Russian olive, an invasive species, from the riparian area near the Colorado Tech Center in Louisville.

Originally planted here for windbreaks and erosion control, this shrub quickly grows thickets, smothering native plants, reducing food for wildlife and changing soil composition. This event is part of a long term project to remove Russian olive from Coal Creek.

We’ll be pruning, lopping and stacking up our cuttings. Tools and gloves provided by the City if Louisville Open Space Department.
